CSTS 2012 To Be Held Earlier In The Year

  CSTS 2011 was a great success, and we've already committed to sponsoring this event again next year. But we plan on offering CSTS R.I. earlier in 2012, probably the first or second weekend in June.

Why? Lots of reasons: films like Spiderman, Superman, and the Avengers will be premiering next Summer, and we don't want to conflict with those movies. For example, we scheduled CSTS 2011 so it wouldn't bump into the last Harry Potter movie.  The Summer Olympics also start in July 2012, and we know that many people stay home to watch that event, skipping the movies, and yes, perhaps even the Big Shiny Movie too!

So watch this space for details about a June showing of CSTS R.I. 2012. Stay Shiny!

Can't Stop The Serenity R.I. 2011 Results

Can't Stop The Serenity R.I. raised over $350 for Equality Now, and collected 291lbs. of food for the R.I. Community Food Bank!

We had an awesome time, and wish to thank everyone who was involved, including all the R.I. Science Fiction Club members who were on the CSTS R.I. Committee, and Dino Pacelli and his crew at CinemaWorld LIncoln.

Serenity Costume Contest to be held at CSTS R.I. 2011

   This year's Can't Stop The Serenity R.I. includes a Serenity/Firefly Universe  Costume contest.  If you like dressing as your favorite Browncoat, Alliance soldier, or even (ahem) Companion, here's your chance to prove your costuming skills.  The judging begins around 9:30pm, and be ready to show off your costume in front of the movie audience.  Prizes in different categories will be awarded,
so dress up all shiny and join the Serenity fun!

CSTS R.I. Looking For Local Fan Clubs

Are you a member of a Sci Fi Fan Club in the New England area? CSTS  R.I. has about a dozen spaces available for your group to set up a fan table that evening.  We're looking for SF fan clubs, comic artists, etc. to fill up the lobby space at CinemaWorld in Lincoln Mall that evening, and best of all, the table is free!

Here's the schedule for CSTS R.I. 2011

  • Doors open at 9 pm, and the fun starts with a Serenity/Firefly Costume contest. Wear the best costume in the 'Verse', and maybe win a prize!
  • This year we're screening the fan-produced film, Browncoats: Redemption, starting at 10:30pm.  The film takes place right after the events of Serenity, and features a new ship and crew. All the proceeds from the sale of dvd's of this film go to charities like 'Equality Now', and it's gotten great reviews by Firefly fans.
  • We'll be showing Serenity at Midnight.
Please bring a non-perishable food item for the R.I. Community Food Bank, and you'll be entered for a chance to win some Serenity prizes!

We'll also have several Sci Fi fan clubs represented at tables in the lobby.
