As I write, Memorial Day weekend has just passed, and people are looking forward to Summer. That means vacations, trips to the beach, and for many, visits to local Sci-Fi conventions. It also means movies....lots of movies.
The RISFC has our Annual Summer Picnic coming up on June 9, 2018. That's always fun, and even when it's rained, we manage to have a good time. The marshmallows and s'mores are a big soggier than usual, but it adds to the, ambiance, yeah, we'll stick with that.
Jurassic World, Ant Man & The Wasp, Incredibles 2, Mission Impossible: Fallout, the list goes on for those movie trips. Watch the emails and Facebook pages for times and dates.
But as a SF fan, I would be remiss if I didn't point out one of the real treasures of Summer: being able to sit outside on your deck, or in the backyard, and catch up on your pile of books that you've put off reading. If you're like me, you have a bunch of them collecting dust on your end table. Summer is the perfect time to put a serious dent in that stack. I have a Shadowrun, a few Mercy Thompson novels, and I never did read that copy of The Martian I got a couple of years ago!
Whatever your plans are, be safe, have fun, enjoy the nice weather, and I'll see you at the movies. After I finish reading this book.
