On this date in 1966, the first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series aired on NBC! If it weren't for Star Trek, the R.I. Science Fiction Club probably would have never been organized, because it was a common love for Trek, and all things Science Fiction, that motivated the 'founding members' of this Club to get together. So Happy 51st Anniversary Star Trek!

In Memoriam: Richard Anderson

Richard Anderson, who was best known for his portrayal of O.S.I. chief Oscar Goldman on The Six Million Dollar Man and its spin-off, The Bionic Woman, has passed away at the age of 91.
He appeared on such shows The Virginian, The Rifleman, Mission: Impossible, Ironside, Knight Rider; Dynasty, and Murder She Wrote, among others. On the original Perry Mason he played the recurring character Lt. Steve Drumm, while on Dan August he played Chief George Untermeyer. He narrated Kung-Fu: The Legend Continues, and was also featured on the highly rated two-hour finale of The Fugitive.

In 1973, ABC aired three TV movies featuring Lee Majors as Colonel Steve Austin, an astronaut who has his legs, one of his arms, and one of his eyes replaced by bionic parts following a crash. In the second of those telefilms, Anderson and his character, Oscar Goldman, replaced Darren McGavin’s Oliver Spencer from the first TV movie.
When the series was picked up by ABC shortly after, Anderson continued in the role of Goldman. He also played the character as a regular on The Bionic Woman with Lindsay Wagner, when that show was spun off from The Six Million Dollar Man. Eventually The Bionic Woman was dropped by ABC and picked up by NBC, leaving Anderson playing the same character simultaneously on two different networks.
He continued to act throughout the 1980s and beyond in such shows as 1980s on Charlie's Angels, Matt Houston, Knight Rider, Remington Steele, The A-Team, The Fall Guy, and Simon & Simon, among others.
Anderson is survived by three daughters, Ashley, Brooke and Deva.
