Constantine Production Ends After 13 Episodes

The NBC series 'Constantine' is going to halt production after 13 episodes, but that doesn't mean it's the end for the NBC series. Based on the DC comic,NBC has gathered little information on ratings, due to the fact that it premiered in late October (it follows Grimm on Friday nights).

The good news is that Constantine has seen ratings jumps via DVR viewings (+81% for Episode 4) which could help NBC with a decision to start production on a second season.

'Global Frequency' Coming To TV

11/23/2014

Farscape and Defiance creator Rockne S. O’Bannon is adapting Warren Ellis’ graphic novel Global Frequency for Fox. Warner Bros. TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer, along with Jonathan Littman, Ellis and O’Bannon, will executive produce the drama. In the comic, the Global Frequency is a covert intelligence organization headed by Miranda Zero to protect and rescue the world from various secret government projects. There are reportedly 1001 people on the Global Frequency, each with their own specialized skills in a variety of areas, who communicate using special video phones connected to a central system monitored by a young woman named Aleph.

Global Frequency is sort of unique in that the comic only features two main characters, Miranda and Aleph. The rest are seen on an issue by issue basis. The twelve-part limited series is also told with standalone stories, so the reader can pick up any issue and know what’s going on. Of course, when adapting the material for TV, one assumes an ongoing mythology or narrative will be added to the standalone stories.

Larry Latham, creator of the Lovecraft horror webcomic 'Lovecraft is Missing', died from complications due to cancer on November 6, 2014. Kelly Reynolds, Larry Latham’s wife, announced his passing in a tribute on the LIM site:

Hello fellow LIM fans,
It is with a broken heart that I share this news–my husband, Larry Latham–the most talented man I know and the love of my life–left this earth Sunday evening (November 2) after a valiant battle with cancer.  This webcomic was his crowning achievement and brought him more joy than any other creative endeavor he has ever participated in. He was so appreciative of his readers and did not want to leave the story unfinished. I ask for your patience as I attempt to carry out his wishes and resume posting new issues in the near future with the help of many talented friends.

Thank you for your loyalty and support.

Latham's last update to the series was dated November 1, and it is not known whether the series will be completed, or continue with further episodes.

'Hashtag' Kickstarter Film Project Stars Gigi Edgley

Runic films and director Ben Alpi are once again looking to Kickstarter to fund their science fiction short film, 'Hashtag'.
Here's the company's description: "Hashtag is a science fiction short — a sleek, smart, and sexy view of a world where social media dominates every moment of our lives. Hashtag follows “X”, the ultimate social media maven, a charismatic woman attracting the attention of tens of millions of online followers. "X" has attained everything she's ever wanted. She's #famous, she's #watched, and one unpopular move could mean the #end.  Starring as “X” is Gigi Edgley. A superior and nuanced actress, Gigi is well known for her role as “Chiana” in Syfy Channel’s internationally acclaimed science fiction series Farscape, and more recently as the host of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge."
The Kickstarter funding period for this project is Nov 5 2014 - Dec 5 2014 (30 days), and you can pledge as little as $10. When we spoke to Gigi Edgley at the recent R.I. Comiccon, she was excited about this project, and so are we!
