Actor Ron Glass, best known for his roles in the TV series Barney Miller and Firefly, died on Friday, November 25, 2016, at the age of 71. Glass was a graduate of the University of Evansville, Ind., and held a double major degree in drama and literature.
He joined the cast of Barney Miller in 1975 as Detective Ron Harris, until the series ended in 1982. For science fiction fans, he played the role of Shepard Derrial Book in the series Firefly, and renewed that role in the sequel film Serenity. Glass' latest roles were in 2014, with appearances in CSI & Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
