ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D, a live-action series from The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel TV and ABC Studios, This is the first of the live action Marvel properties being developed for which sister company ABC has given the go-ahead for a pilot.
The pilot, which Whedon may direct, will be co-written with brother Jed Whedon and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen (they collaborated on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog).
Recently Whedon signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios that runs through the release of the second Avengers feature film, which he will write and direct.
