Retirement Spots for the Space Shuttle Fleet

NASA recently announced which sites will receive the space shuttles when the fleet is finally retired.

• Endeavour: California Science Center in Los Angeles, CA.
  
• Atlantis: Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
• Discovery: Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Chantilly, VA.
• Enterprise: Intrepid Museum, New York City, NY.
  

  NASA estimates it will cost $42 million dollars to prepare and deliver each shuttle to their destinations.

.The shuttle Columbia was lost Feb. 1, 2003, during re-entry, and the Challenger exploded shortly after launch on January 28, 1986.
