It appears that The Orville, MacFarlane’s most recent live-action production, has not been renewed for a fourth season by Hulu. While it may seem like Hulu cancelled the show at first glance, apparently a fourth season was never planned. In fact, Disney might not have even produced the third season had it not been for a contractual obligation – the show was renewed before the Disney/Fox merger.
Season 3 has already been filmed, but fans shouldn’t expect a major cliffhanger that’ll leave them without closure. Because there were never any plans for the show to continue after the upcoming season, all story lines and character arcs expected to conclude by the finale.
But don't worry, SF fans, Hulu is working on a new version of 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', rumored to be using the same stage sets once occupied by the crew of 'The Orville.'
