If you're a stickler for 'canon' in the Star Wars Universe, prepare to be severely disappointed. According to Blastr, Disney & Lucasfilm have made two very important announcements regarding Star Wars: first, the Star Wars Expanded Universe that's been constructed for decades through comics, novels, videogames and more is officially not considered part of Star Wars continuity going forward. For now, the only canonical Star Wars stories are the original six films, the Clone Wars animation work and the already announced future projects coming from Disney and Lucasfilm, including the new J.J. Abrams films and the new animated series Star Wars: Rebels.

Free Comic Book Day is fast approaching! Comic Book retailers across the country celebrate and promote reading by offering special free issues of comics in their stores. For children, it's a chance to introduce them to the wonders of comics, and encourage reading. For adults, it's being able to collect one of a kind comic issues from publishers including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and a number of Indy companies. Now, the comic book store owners have to pay for these titles, so don't be surprised if you're limited to picking up a couple of issues, but most retailers have contests, Cosplay, and lots of other goodies that day too. For more info, and to find a participating comic shop near you, go to their website: www.freecomicbookday.com If you are a hard-core tabletop gamer with money to spare, invest in one of these custom tables by Geek Chic. The play will be performed at The Artist's Exchange, 50 Rolfe Square, Cranston, R.I. Here's a synopsis from their press release: "Franklin Robertson is enduring the most terrifying, horrific episode of his life: high school. Along with the struggles of coming of age in the 1980’s, Franklin must conquer his own family demons while trying to write his own macabre tales of suspense. His only solace? A campy horror film program known as “Nightmare Theatre”, hosted by Dr. Cerberus. Surrounded by evil jocks, overbearing parents and the temptations of confusing hormones, Franklin survives these torments by disappearing into the realm of his fantasies. Burbage Theatre Company is proud to present Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s irreverent celebration of cult horror films and the growing pains of our awkward teenage years. Funny and unexpectedly sweet, Dr. Cerberus is a tragicomic exploration of how an overactive imagination is sometimes the sweetest refuge." Researchers announced their discovery of the deep watery ocean on Enceladus on Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the journal Science, confirming suspicions held by many scientists since 2005, when NASA's Cassini spacecraft spied geysers of ice and water vapor erupting from Enceladus' south pole. The discovery vaults Enceladus into the top tier of life-hosting candidates along with Europa, an ice-sheathed moon of Jupiter that also hosts a subterranean ocean. Both frigid satellites bear much closer investigation, researchers say. |
